Our Mission

The Longmont Concert Band (LCB) is a non-profit organization composed of volunteer musicians from the surrounding communities. Our goals are to provide quality concert band music to the general public, to provide a fun and invigorating atmosphere for local amateur musicians to create music, and to increase the sense of community in the local area by being active participants in local events. In short, our goal is to make music and have fun!

History

The LCB was founded by Robert Crow, who, when he moved to Longmont in retirement, wanted a place to play his instrument. Bob served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942 to 1945 as a member of an Air Force Band in Tampa, Florida and was a former member of Denver’s John Phillip Sousa Band. Robert Crow passed away on Dec. 12, 2008 at the age of 84.

Longmont Concert Band members have ranged in age from 17 to 82. Since its formation in 2003, the band has grown from a group of 15 players

to over 50 players today, with a complete wind band instrumentation. Comprised of amateur musicians, music educators, and volunteer professionals from Longmont and the surrounding area, the band provides a forum for area musicians to build community and a passion for music performance.
